Recently had a shoot at the IMA Gardens with Riley and his family… Such a cute and curious little boy, he had so much energy and was tough to keep up with! He loved to explore and examine everything he could with the utmost curiosity. I imagine someday he’ll be leading expeditions down the Amazon.
With my recent shoots I’ve been trying to achieve a more consistent look across the images. In the past I would pick and choose different looks for different shots, trying to maximize the potential and uniqueness of each. In retrospect, I think that was counterproductive. While some individual shots may have looked spectacular, sets as a whole lacked a certain cohesiveness and individual shots lacked their own place in the grand story. Consistency in processing also helps a photographer hone and develop his or her unique style. More people notice it and begin to associate you with a certain look. The challenge is to keep learning, keep evolving, and keep your look fresh.
I had the pleasure of doing the engagement session for some good friends of ours, Anne and Brian. They’d never done a photoshoot before, so I think they did a fabulous job. Brian definitely lightened the mood with his goofiness. The location in the woods made for some really great fall imagery, though I would have loved to have a few more leaves still on the trees. Congrats guys!
